Insight

First, let me explain how I write. I, unfortunately, do not write with a plan or outline in place. This is against every writing rule I was taught in school and every one I’ve read since putting my fingers to the keyboard to begin Immortal in 2010. This means I throw out a lot of what I write. Immortal alone I started over five times and probably threw out 80,000 words.
The reason I’m telling all of you this is three fold.
1)      For those who are writing or aspiring to write: Don’t give up. I have the worst writing habits in the world, yet I persisted, and because of it, Immortal and Forever were created.
2)      This means I am not a fast writer. If you add in the fact that I also have a full time job, two kids, and a husband, as well as writing but I hate excuses. I know, as a fan waiting over a year for Mass Effect 3 and three years three months for Inheritance by Christopher Paolini (see I’m a bigger dork than you thought) to come out I really do understand the frustration of waiting for the next book or game or even movies to be released.
3)      This also means that my most frequently asked question: When will Eternity, the third book in the Immortal Trilogy, be released? This question is actually hardest for me to answer. I would chalk it up there with Stephenie Meyers being asked about Midnight Sun. I know you all want a date now and the sooner the better. The thing is I needed a break from Immortal not a long break but a little one. Hence, the reason I am working on Here After my new series. I promise afterward I will be back to work on Eternity.
I hope this gives you some insight into what I’m doing and I hope you’re all willing to hang in there with me. The wait will be worth it.

  1. I am shocked that you would think starting a new series before you finished the one you already have started is what’s best. I am also disappointed as a fan of yours that you would do this. It has already been so long since you published FOREVER and I am going to be honest it makes me feel like I should not even bother waiting for you to finish this trilogy. What's going to happen with your new series, Here After, you’re starting and you feel like you need a break from that one too...?
Leave those fans who started that series without an ending too and start a different one saying I need a “break” from this series but I “promise I will get right back to it after my break."

As a person who reads a lot, about 3 books a week on average not including chapters dues for my college courses, of series and non series books I find it hard to believe that a writer as good as you are could just ignore your fans and what they have been waiting for. It also makes me not want to buy anymore of your books and especially makes me not want to start ANY of the series you write for the basic reason that I don't want to start another one and never get the next book. It's quite disappointing.

I can sympathize that you have a family and a career that are main priorities but the way I see it is that by you starting a series you never plan to finish the Immortal Series or any series you write for that matter. I will not waste any more of my money or time on your books, which is distressing for me because I thoroughly enjoyed them. Lastly, it’s not like me to stop being a fan of a terrific writer but you have given me no choice.

    1. I understand how ur feeling.. I really want the next book to come out too!!:) the last one way really good don't u agree? Well if you do then u have to learn to be patient because the best books aren't made in a month or even three nexus they have I be just right so it will make you come back for more. So my question is: would you rather get a really good book that's worth you money that took a while or get a crappy rushed book that not worth your money because you wanted it to come out now?

  3. Wow.... I guess it's the end of the world for some of us. But really, I'm just greatful you're still writing. If I can wait some... what 15 years for an L.J. Smith book that is prob being written by some one else now, and follow L.K. Hamilton threw her Anita Blake series which is supposed to be like 70 books - then I'm sure other REAL fans like myself will be watching and waiting for the next release... and will enjoy re-reading the first books.

    1. I completely agree. I have been reading all the same series' that you mentioned here, and I have learned to be patient. From what I hear, L.J. Smith was replaced with a ghost writer, so that is disappointing. I have really enjoyed the books that Lauren has written, so I will patiently wait for the next ones.

  5. Just curious if Eternity has been started again yet? I really hope that at some point you will be reconigized as a great Author and you could make enough money so that your full time job is writing! Unless that not what you want... So with that said, have you started this last book in the trilogy? I keep checking and there r no updates or responses. I hope all is well in your life with your family. I also hope to be reading an outstanding ending to this trilogy that is by far one of my favorite stories yet!

  6. I just finished the first two books, for the third time. So I was wondering how things were coming along with the third book, Eternity? I hope all is well with you and yours. Please let us know how things are going...even if they aren't going.
